Firstly understand how energy brokers are paid and you will then see the HENOC difference.
The market generally works on a supplier uplift basis, you will here many TPI's (Third Party Intermediaries) say they get paid commissions from energy suppliers, or their services are free, there are lots of these sales tactics in the Micro/SME market. However the reality is that the fees TPI's/brokers/consultants earn in the Micro/SME market are generally achieved by adding an increase to your unit price (rate) for energy (kWh) known as a Supplier Uplift to cover their services, we operate on the same basis. However, some TPI's will offer a fixed separate fee where no uplift should be applied as you pay the fee separately, HENOC are happy to accept proposals on this basis.
You should establish whether your TPI operates under and is addereing to the TPI code of practice-HENOC are a member and adhere to the code, secondly, ask them to advise of their uplift pence rate per kWh you can then decide if the fee is reasonable for their service or question the fee in relation to the work being done. If you have agreed to pay on a seperate fee basis for services, ensure they have not also applied a kWh uplift as well. Basically ensure you are dealing with a reputable Third Party Intermediary/Broker/Consultant as the services offered by reputable providers are invaluable in the procurement of energy.
Our fees
Our fee structure is simple and transparent from the offset. We primarily have one fee structure, unless we are contracted to provide additional services other than broking of supply, Supplier Uplift Payment. We have adopted a business model that does not predominantly focus on Profits, as we consider our environmental impact and that of our clients coupled with ours and others sustainability. This is evident with our standard fee being 10X below the maximum uplift permitted by suppliers and our Uplift Cap being 3-6X lower, depending on usage, than the maximum uplift permitted by suppliers. .
Supplier Uplift Payments. Our fee is added and included as a minimal fraction of the suppliers unit rate (kWh) known as a Supplier Uplift. Basically, TPI's set their own commission uplift for their services provided, and generally the maximum uplift can not exceed 3p per kWh as a cap on uplift pence rate per kWh is set by energy suppliers. So the price we quote will include our fee as this is included within the unit price (rate) per (kWh) of the relevant energy supplier. We fully disclose our uplift rate (the amount added to your kWh rate from energy provider) per transaction and the amount we are expected to receive. We are transparent with no hidden fees. Fees enable us to provide, broking services, quoting technology and systems, switching service, bill disputes, bill validation, refunds , long term customer service and reviewing your rates. Our service ensures you are utilizing the most appropriate tariff and supplier, whilst proving ongoing support to ensure your energy contract runs smoothly and your needs are met. Our services are different to price comparison only businesses and some other TPI's who generally just arrange your contract of supply but get paid the same way and often apply higher uplifts. HENOC, Honest Energy No OverCharging.
Our Price Pledge. Our quotes are clear and transparent so you have exact figures based on usage, rate per kWh and standing charge. We will always make you aware of the most competitive quote, we do not get nor do we accept any overriders, bonuses or incentive's from energy suppliers or any other suppliers of services.
Our Unique Supplier Uplift Cap . We generally charge 0.3p per kWh for our services, this can vary for smaller users below 50,000 kwh per annum and also with larger users in the SME space over 50,000 kWh depending on the work involved and the services we are being asked to do, as we offer more than price comparison as a service. However, our overall Uplift is capped at 1p per kWh as a maximum up to annual usage of 100,000 kWh annual usage over 100,000 kWh our Uplift Cap is reduced to 0.5p per kWh. The market (energy suppliers) generally allows TPI's/Brokers/Consultants to uplift to 3p per kWh however, we feel our self administered 1p per kWh and our 0.5p per kWh uplift cap sets us apart from others in the SME market that may overcharge customers.
